Job Description

Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks a talented substitute teacher. We are looking for culturally competent candidates that possess experience working as educators in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs and 504 plans. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with other staff, families, and students as a founding teacher at an innovative charter public school in the city of Worcester. School Nurse Qualifications

• Current DESE licensure as a school nurse (preferred but not required)
• Licensure as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Current certification for CPR and AED by the American Heart Association as a Health Provider
  
  

Qualifications

Must hold an associate’s degree (or higher)

Knowledge of the subject(s) or age group being taught and the principles and methodologies of effective teaching.

Experience using Microsoft and Google applications

Responsibilities

Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent

Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives

Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment

Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Demonstrated ability to work with children in developmentally appropriate and kind ways

Supervise students in classrooms, halls, lunch area, and any area considered school grounds.

Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and learning disabilities.

Assist in bus loading and unloading.

Records attendance in accordance with school procedures; ensuring students are always attended to and not left without supervision.

Perform all other duties as directed by school administration

Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School opened August 2023 and is chartered for grades K-5. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that focuses on three levels of student achievement: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. Join Our Adult Crew

At Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and participate in these events, ranging from student and family orientation activities to celebrations of learning to graduation. We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making.

We are intentional about engaging our faculty and staff in the development of the Academy and of themselves. School-wide professional meetings happen before the start of the school year and throughout.
