We are excited to invite a full-time Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team! This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an established and growing organization dedicated to providing customized insurance solutions for public entities.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 per year, a bonus plan, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off in your hiring year, and a 401(k) plan with employer matching.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the Lead Underwriter to manage the production, underwriting, and profitability of a diverse portfolio, ensuring we meet or exceed annual targets.
- Review new business submissions to confirm risks qualify, all necessary documentation is in place, and accurate pricing is determined.
- Analyze loss runs and calculate loss ratios for effective underwriting and quoting of new business and renewals.
- Prepare referrals for accounts exceeding your authority and send them to the Lead Underwriter for review.
- Achieve new business hit ratios and retention goals, while also assisting in training new underwriting team members to adhere to guidelines.
- Work closely with UW Support to ensure the issuance of error-free policies and endorsements, and review complex policies.
- Foster strong relationships with production sources to enhance client retention and build strategic alliances.
- Establish and maintain positive carrier relationships to build confidence in your underwriting skills.
- Participate in broker marketing calls and contribute to enhancing our market presence.
- Meet performance standards in response time, quoting, binding, and issuance.

Qualifications:

- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven ability to close new business opportunities.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods (April 1 to July 15 and October 1 to December 15) and willingness to travel occasionally (0%-10%).

Experience and Education:

- Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent education required.
- CPCU or ARM designation preferred.
- At least 5 years of insurance underwriting experience, with some exposure to the public entity segment.
