Yes County Wayne Street Address Savannah Field Office 1385 Morgan Road City Savannah State NY Zip Code 13146 Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications: 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources, or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine, or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.Preferred qualifications: Waterfowl identification skills; good mechanical aptitude; tree and wetland plant identification skills; familiarity with MS Word and Excel software, mapping (GPS/GIS), and data management; invasive plant control experience; experience with boats, canoes, 4-wheelers, firearms, and power tools; good communication skills, ability to work well with others, and a willingness to learn. Duties Description This position is based out of DEC's Field Office in Savannah, Wayne County, and will assist with all aspects of the Bureau of Wildlife program. Work will primarily occur in Wayne and Seneca Counties, and duties include, but are not limited to: big game harvest data collection, waterfowl trapping and banding, wildlife surveys, pheasant releases, nuisance wildlife response, wildlife health monitoring, and habitat and access management on Wildlife Management Areas. Habitat management may include water level and wetland management, invasive plant identification and control (including chemical control), grassland and wetland restoration, and native seed collection. Other job duties include regular communication with the public, assistance with volunteer and public outreach events, equipment maintenance, and data entry. A rabies pre-exposure vaccination series will be required for this position and can be completed after hiring. Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
