CAN TV is a nonprofit community access television station that services the Chicago area through five cable channels, streaming, and an app. The station produces original programming as well as programs produced by members of the public who live in Chicago’s communities. The Production Services Coordinator is responsible for the operations of the Production Services office, and facilitates usage of the CAN TV station by our community producers. Production Services serves as a bridge between the Training Department and the Programming Department, and its purview extends over many areas of the station, including our 1500 square-foot production studio.
This is an on-site job, and the Production Services Coordinator’s day-to-day work primarily entails assisting our public producers, but includes other duties listed below. After community producers are trained and certified they come to Production Services for use of the facility in three main areas:
CAN TV is also currently expanding its original productions, and the Production Services Coordinator might be asked to step into additional roles such as:
Must have video production experience.
Must have experience with Google and Microsoft office products with the ability to troubleshoot.
Experience with television production, and digital editing is a plus.
Good organizational skills are required.
Punctuality is a must.
We have a creative, collaborative, and relaxed work environment, but a professional demeanor and the ability to work with a diversity of people is a must.
Must be able to work Saturdays.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must pass a routine background check.
While previous experience with our software and equipment listed below is a plus, there will be training so that the staff member has an extensive knowledge base to draw from.
Full time (39.5 hours per week), $19 / hour.
Hours may change but are typically 11am to 8pm Tuesday through Friday, and 9am to 6pm on Saturdays. Overtime is available if ever asked to work additional hours.
6 month probationary period before joining the employees union (NABET CWA).
