Job Description

General Purpose

Maintain clean and sanitary floors while keeping the floors visually appealing and up to UG2 standards. Working as a Floor Technician means you're responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety, as well as operating cleaning equipment and organizing and maintaining supplies and equipment.

• Reports to the Custodial Manager.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Perform floor care and cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing throughout the DMU campus and facilities.
• Remove and transport waste to proper disposal areas.
• Keep accurate information on floor care logs and checklists.
• Able to keep inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Aid in the on-the-job training of new staff.
• Ability to run walk-behind scrubbers, walk-behind extractors, and swing buffers.
• Able to steam clean upholstery.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Report any notable damages and concerns.
• Adhere to workplace safety standards.
• Use of PPE is required in accordance with the job task.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Custodial or related experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
• Previous experience stripping and finishing a variety of floors including Terrazzo and VCT preferred.
