Web Designer

Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly professional Web Designer to join us in our Scottsdale, AZ or Lansdowne, VA office. As the Web Designer, you are a vital part of the Marketing Communications Team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Digital Content and are responsible for the planning, development, and execution of digital marketing needs for the business, primarily focusing on Alliance Defending Freedom websites. You will collaborate with cross-functional divisions to ensure exceptional development and execution of web pages, & other digital needs. You will also be responsible for developing and executing creative/visual concepts for online communication initiatives.

Your Essential Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:

  • Design webpages that engage target audiences, drive website traffic, and provide optimal user experience
  • Partner with teammates to create and execute visual aspects of landing pages and campaign microsites. This includes but is not limited to design, layout, HTML/CSS creation, dynamic HTML creation, or interactive "feature" development and deployment of all components online
  • Work with internal clients to gather requirements, problem-solve, and provide creative input
  • Collaborate with the internal software development team and/or outside vendors on the design, layout, and functionality of websites and landing pages
  • Manage the schedule and update changes to "static" copy to ensure consistency with changes in the Resources and Brand & Style guide
  • Test and improve website usability and performance

Skills you need to succeed:

Knowledge of:

  • Interface design
  • CSS and HTML, and have hands-on experience with content management systems
  • JavaScript and SQL
  • Web analytics tools (Google Analytics)
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver

Demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Building interactive and/or dynamic applications
  • Excellent written, verbal, and diplomatic communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Ability to easily crossover between technical and creative aspects of web design
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or Political Science
  • 4+ years experience in front-end web development, web-based design and publishing
  • 4+ years experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery
  • Experience with responsive design and digital optimization techniques
  • Experience executing complex email campaigns through a major email service provider
  • Previous project management experience a plus
