Essential Functions Responsible for conducting facility and jobsite audits, incident reporting, investigations, implementing corrective actions and seeing them through completion. Confirm compliance of OSHA, State, and Local safety and environmental rules and programs for employees and sub-contractor personnel Communicate with Operations Leadership and their employees daily of our HSE expectations Deliver new hire onboarding, including training and review of company standards as well as conduct and manage all ongoing safety training aspects for assigned employees Participate in project meetings and be up to date with work schedules to verify any potential workplace hazards are identified and discussed and resolved before the work commences. Conduct safety meetings daily, weekly, monthly, and as needed; attend and participate in toolbox meetings on a routine basis Manage required safety documentation such as training certificates, incident related materials and environmental compliance Track, analyze and report safety performance indicators / trends and provide recommendations and programs based on the data Identify and correct hazardous conditions and behaviors Demonstrates working knowledge and clear understanding of interrelationship between HSE department, Operations team, and the entire global organization. Independently takes effective action to verify project deadlines are met and supports others in the completion of tasks; uses team approach on all projects involving a wide circle of involvement, verifying ideas are translated into viable solutions. Possesses decision making and problem-solving skills with limited guidance. Understands company objectives and exercises independent judgment by making effective decisions and initiating sound recommendations based upon depth and/or breadth of functional areas. Often counsels' supervisors of risk and exposure to any decision made. Maintains high moral and ethical standards. Keeps company out of high risk/exposure areas. Manage all regulatory compliance and recordkeeping. Coordinate environmental inspections and coordinate with facility managers to design/implement any corrections/changes required. Lead / conduct periodic facility drills as per NIS policies / procedures. Gives feedback to employees that is accurate, balanced, timely, and behaviorally specific. Coaches employees and management how to address and resolve complex safety issues. Promotes active sharing of expertise among team members. Able to present and discuss ideas to appeal to the interest and logic of a group; understands and anticipates the effect of an action on the group. Listens and communicates openly, candidly, and effectively. Keeps the appropriate people informed; provides constructive feedback and suggestions. Provides innovative and creative solutions to complex functional issues. Demonstrates a positive attitude and support for company's culture and goals. Professional integrity with commitment to maintaining confidentiality Ability to work outside of regular business hours on occasion Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite/Microsoft 365, especially with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook is required Five or more years of experience within a construction environment Any of the following certifications (not required but a plus): COSS, OSHA510, OSHA500, OHST, ASP, CUSP, CSP Education & Experience Requirements Bachelors Degree (educational equivalent), or 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of education, AND 3 years experience in Operations, Manufacturing, Service, or HSE. Thorough understanding of regulations and the regulatory process. Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management. Professional certifications may be required. Position Summary Conducts quality, occupational health, safety and/or environmental audits and inspects facilities within geographic area of responsibility to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory laws. Conducts orientations, visits work sites, and distributes literature to implement and promote quality, occupational health, safety and/or environmental policies and procedures. Analyzes and interprets scientific and technical journals, financial reports and regulatory documents. Develops procedures based on regulatory and/or client requirements. Presents information and responds to questions or concerns from employees, managers, clients and the general public. Responds to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies and/or community groups. May assist or train lower level coordinators. Handles special projects, as assigned.
