Division: Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The Parking Enforcement Officer performs protective, security, enforcement and public contact work in support of campus operations.
Responsibilites include:
- Citing vehicles which are improperly parked.
- Securing, guarding, and protecting property and grounds by patrolling the interior and exterior of facilities via foot, vehicle, bicycle, or other mode of transport and by monitoring activities using surveillance cameras, alarm panels, card access, or other electronic security systems.
- Guarding property against fire, damage, theft, or other hazards; monitoring assigned areas for possible violation of policies, regulations, and rules of conduct; recognizing and reporting unusual, suspicious, or hazardous situations; providing information and assistance to the public; operating and maintaining security and enforcement equipment; and maintaining related records and reports.
- Knowledge of the standard safety, surveillance, security, and/or parking enforcement practices and equipment; basic knowledge of standard methods of reporting and handling emergencies such as disturbances and fires, medical and security threats; knowledge of applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion while conducting business; they work individually and/or with others, and they adapt to change and circumstances.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

The Parking and Transportation Program is a fee-for-service program that has a major impact on visitor impressions of the university and a significant impact on student, faculty, and staff impressions of the workplace as a friendly, pleasant environment and an indirect impact on their productivity.The Program must be customer-focused. The Program must seek ways to park cars while minimizing the visual impact efficiently; handle special events in the most efficient manner; reduce traffic on campus; allocate parking fairly; and enforce parking regulations fairly.The Parking and Transportation Program administers all phases of parking operations, including special event parking; permit registration and distribution; parking allocations to user groups; visitor parking; mobile payment operations; enforcement, petitions, and appeals; and recording/collections of fees and fines. The Parking and Transportation Program encourages and plans for transportation alternatives to single occupancy vehicles with carpooling incentives, shuttle services, and an infrastructure supportive of pedestrians and cyclists.The Parking and Transportation Program provides the data and impact analysis to be used in planning physical plant improvements, such as surface lots, parking decks, sidewalks, bike racks, and bike lanes and paths.
