Job Description

Stauder Family Eyecare is currently looking for an Optician to join our team! You'll be working Monday- Friday and one Saturday morning a month.

• Interpretation of prescriptions written by the optometrist.
• Pretesting (use of visual fields, tonometers, autorefractors, VA, fundus photography).
• Knowledge of vision plans (VSP, Eyemed, Davis).
• Collection of eye measurements including corneal width and thickness.
• Helping clients select eyeglass and lens treatments including tints and coatings.
• Creating work orders to ensure delivery of the proper lenses.
• Adjusting eyeglasses to ensure a proper fit.
• Repairing broken frames.
• Educating clients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care.
• Sell contact lenses, spectacles, sunglasses, cleaning kits and other products related to the eyes.
• Assist clients with insertion, removal, and care of contact lenses.
• Use measuring devices to take client measurements including bridge and eye sizes, vertex distance, papillary distance, temple length, optical eye centers for sizes for eyeglasses.
• Verify finished lens spectacles match the optical prescription and order placed in VSP or EyeMed.
• Arrange and maintain optical merchandise displays.
• Maintain records of client prescriptions, payments and work orders sent to the laboratory.

Qualifications:

• 2 years optical experience.
• Ability to read doctors prescription and order glasses and/or contacts.
• Assist patients with choosing eyewear.
