The City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the full-time position of Laboratory Analyst at the Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery Facility. This full-time position will provide quantitative and qualitative laboratory analysis of internal samples, industries, sanitary districts and waste haulers ensuring all requirements and permit limits established by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Agency are being met and using that analysis for billing purposes according to their discharges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sample setup and analysis including total phosphorus, total suspended solids, ammonia, BOD, fecal coliform, E-coli, nitrates, alkalinity, volatile acids, transmittance, and pH; laboratory maintenance, including but not limited to instrument calibration(s), limit(s) of detection and quantitation, lab inventory, bench sheet preparation, solution prep and standardization and writing and revising SOP’s as applicable; analysis, and the entry, organization and maintenance of all data obtained along with mathematical calculations on all data generated. Others include plant and industrial sampling including confined space entry; gas detector maintenance; software management and training of Hach/WIMS data entry software to provide information for completing the DMR and Sludge Reports. Working hours will be 6:30am-4pm M-TH and 6:30am-10am F. There is a Sunday (4 hours)/Holiday rotation between analysts to complete the required analysis throughout the year.

Essential Knowledge and Abilities/Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Graduation from a four-year college program in chemistry or related science, with two -five years' of chemical lab experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications, CPR/First Aid certified, confined space certified, current wastewater operator license, and continued education through the DNR and WWOA training sessions is desirable. Scheduled hours include rotating weekend work and rotating holidays.

SALARY RANGE : We offer a competitive compensation package ($25.63 - $29.29/hour) based upon knowledge, skills, and abilities with potential to receive additional step increases based on meeting and/or exceeding goals/expectations; annual COLA and step increases pending City Council approval of budgets; and future promotional opportunities in alignment with succession and career path.
