Lucid Motors is seeking a motivated design Intern to join the Digital Design team organization. As a design intern you will be responsible for prototyping, designing, and delivering next-level, luxurious, user-centric, interactive experiences for Lucid’s connected electric vehicles, both on in-car interfaces and the Lucid mobile app.

Role

In this rule, you will work as part of a UX/UI team that leads the user experience for Lucid vehicles. Our team shapes the experience throughout the journey of prospective buyers, new owners, and long-term customers. Our design covers in-car interfaces, hardware touchpoints, and Lucid mobile app. A sneak peek of what UX/UI team is working on:

You have an eye for detail and are passionate about creating innovative features and solving complex design problems for electric vehicles. Your designs will directly influence the work of your Lucid colleagues and the lives of Lucid users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with product teams to develop use cases and high-level system requirements
  • Closely involved in all stages of the design process, from initial design ideation and creating wireframes to prototyping and testing the final product
  • Collaborate with UX researchers to gather consumer data, validate concepts, benchmark, test prototypes, and apply findings to your designs
  • Partner with software teams to build experiences by providing design specifications, creating assets, and reviewing finished interfaces

Preferred Qualifications

  • A digital portfolio highlighting multiple projects that demonstrate your experience crafting delightful digital interfaces
  • A firm grasp on design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Suite, etc.) and any other tools that help you be an effective, collaborative designer
  • Proficiency in standard prototyping tools (ProtoPie, Framer, etc.) to communicate your initial design ideas as tangible prototypes
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written, verbal, presentation), and collaboration skills
  • Open to instructive feedback and willing to develop and refine a concept with fellow designers
  • Willing to spend time on the nuances and able to articulate on design decisions
  • Curious in the trends of design and technology and passionate about applying technology to improve human life.

Education

Field(s) of study : Interaction Design, User Experience, HCI (Human Computer Interaction) or a related field

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree program at an accredited university.
  • Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience at a tech or self-driving vehicle company
  • Hands-on experience in software and hardware integration
  • Advanced proficiency in prototyping tools

Program Information

  • Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
  • Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
  • Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
  • Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $31 to $45.
  • Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
  • Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
  • Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
  • Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
  • Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.

Compensation Range : The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits : Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (hourly)

$31—$45 USD
