Job Description Finance and Accounting Intern Location: Store Support Center - Chesapeake, Virginia
Job Type: Internship - $19 per hour
Duration: 10 weeks (June - August)
Teams Supported: Asset Protection, Risk Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Internal Auditing, and Financial Reporting & Capital Accounting
Summer Internship Program: The Dollar Tree Summer Internship Program offers an enriching 10-week paid internship opportunity that takes place at our corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia. Interns will be immersed in a dynamic work environment where they will receive personalized mentorship and engage in professional development activities designed to enhance their skills.
Throughout the internship, participants will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of our operations. Comprehensive onboarding will ensure interns are well-prepared from day one. Additionally, team-building activities will foster collaboration and networking among peers and leaders in the organization.
At the culmination of the summer program, interns will have the exciting opportunity to present their projects and insights, with the possibility of earning scholarships as recognition for their hard work and creativity. This internship is not just a job; it's a chance to grow, learn, and make impactful contributions within a supportive community.
Job Summary: As a Finance and Accounting Intern at Dollar Tree, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and insights into the finance and accounting functions within a leading retail organization. You will gain exposure to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Inventory Control, Tax, Loss Prevention, Strategic Planning and/or Budget. Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced professionals, you will support various aspects of financial analysis, reporting, and operations. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting principles and prepare you for a successful career in the field. At the end of the program, each intern will be responsible for a presentation centered on what they learned and a real-world challenge/opportunity they helped to solve.
Qualifications :
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with complex formulas, functions, and data manipulation.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis concepts. Aptitude for mathematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective relationships.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn about finance and accounting practices in a retail setting.
Risk Management Internship is currently pursuing a special project requiring a student pursuing Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or Environmental Science.
