Description

The Kentucky Department of Education is a premier service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's K-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities. The department seeks to hire a smart, experienced, hardworking and dependable Education Program Consultant to join our dedicated team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides consultative services and technical assistance to local school district personnel and other state and private educational agencies in the development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of educational programs
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to local school district personnel and other state and private educational agencies in interpreting Title IV, Part A of the Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) program. Advise districts on the allowable uses of funds, role of the SEA, fiscal responsibilities, and local application requirements.
  • Provide consultative services to grantees in order to provide successful technical assistance to districts regarding laws, cost principles, and grants management.
  • Collaborate with education partners within and outside KDE on various projects. Evaluate school district applications for federal funding.
  • Review district reports, other program reports, and evaluations. Collect and compile data for state and federal reports. Identify and provide technical assistance to districts and others. Check and analyze school district state data. Perform onsite compliance monitoring at the district level.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.




EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.




Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE




Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
