Job Title: Field Service Technician (for Windows & Doors)         

Industry : Manufacturing of Window & Doors

Houston Location: 5615 W. Fuqua St. Bldg. c101, Houston, TX. 77085

Employment: Full Time, Non-exempt, Hourly

Compensation :

  • Starting Rate:  $20.00 - $24.00 per hour (depending on experience) 

Work Schedule: 

1 st Shift: Monday - Friday (Weekends as needed)

During peak times and to meet deadlines, O/T with your team may be necessary. 

The ideal candidate should be able to follow RAM scheduling and

work at different RAM locations as needed

Houston, Dallas, Austin - overnight stays may be required.

Position Summary:

RAM Windows is looking for a Field Service Technician to service and repair Windows and Doors at customer job sites in the Houston area in Company vehicle. T his position focuses on servicing, repairing, receiving, shipping, inventory, and other related tasks and projects assigned to maintain a secure and effective operation in our warehouse facility.

The individual is expected to provide excellent Customer Service while at the same time assisting in warehouse operational functions when not servicing in the field. This position will report to the Service Manager . A dhering to high-quality standards and keen eye for attention to detail is essential in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation of windows and sashes (some travel required to jobsites in the DFW area and Austin, TX areas)
  • Trouble-shoot problem installations and report findings to managers and sales reps as needed.
  • Window screen out/punch
  • Inspect and insure proper sash operation
  • Adjust and or install new balance rods
  • Troubleshoot and repair windows
  • Provide excellent verbal/written communication with customers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Performing quality checks of completed Service Tickets
  • Maintaining a high level of quality service
  • Able to follow intricate instructions
  • Ability to lift Windows and Doors and carry up to 75-100 lbs
  • Follow all RAM safety protocols for handling and lifting window and glass products using the buddy system
  • Load and unload materials at the warehouse or customer’s location
  • Perform tie downs and secure trucks and trailers
  • Verify pick tickets accurately
  • Ability to take pictures or film windows and doors once serviced, repaired, or shipped and received in warehouse
  • Assist with deliveries in the field and with Service related tasks
  • Must perform warehouse, office and yard clean up duties
  • Accurately verify all vendor receiving and loading documents
  • Ability to assign stocking locations to all received materials
  • Ability to perform window mulling and twinning on low to medium end product lines
  • Ability to perform shop glazing and frame assemblies
  • Experience with or Familiar with servicing Windows and Door product brands:
    • RAM  Windows
    • Sierra Pacific
    • PlyGem
    • LaCantina

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years related experience as a Field service Technician or similar role in a manufacturing, warehouse production setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Quick learner, good communicator
  • Building, Construction, hand tools knowledge preferred. Able to work in a warehouse and on jobsites (construction sites, commercial sites, residential sites)
  • Speak, read, and write English (bilingual in Spanish is a plus) to communicate with customers to set appointments, gather information, and problem-solve
  • Basic cell phone and texting skills, use cellphone to communicate and track ticket completion per job.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record (MVR)
  • MUST be able to manage calendar and demands daily
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize servicing needs.
  • Excellent organizational, social, and customer-focus skills.
  • Ability to build a complete product knowledge base 
  • Computer skills and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Experience working independently with little supervision 
  • Ability to lift product and make minor repairs of windows and Doors products
  • Must be safety conscious working with equipment and follow safety procedures.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem solving skills required
  • Ability to use and read different measuring devices
  • Previous success working in the field, warehouse, manufacturing, production setting
  • Good communication skills; ability to communicate with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Good attendance and punctuality is a must and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed; w illingness to work overtime as needed
  • MUST be able to work overtime and weekends when needed

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

  • Work primarily out in the field servicing and repairing windows and doors at customer jobsites in eh DFW and Austin Texas areas.  When not in the field, will work in an enclosed, indoor warehouse environment; exposed to dust, heat, humidity, and cold weather conditions dependent on local weather conditions. R equired to work in areas that are near moving mechanical parts.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity including the ability to regularly stand and walk up to 8-10 hours a day, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, or squat.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs and 100 lbs with some assistance.
  • Frequently use of fingers and hands to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms
  • Comfortable working on ladders or elevated areas and scaffolding, setting up and tearing down scaffolding systems
  • H ave hand-eye coordination 
  • Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
