Job Description

Perky Beans Coffee & PB Cafe in Leander, TX is looking to hire a full-time or part-time Coffee Shop Barista Shift Lead to provide stellar customer service and ensure that our operations run smoothly.

The Shift Lead is responsible for directing an efficient workflow and assisting the Supervisor in various store operations duties. This position serves as a role model for barista responsibilities and as the team leader when the Supervisor is unavailable. The Shift Lead works within the Company's operational mission of "It's all about the customer. Everything we choose to say and do affects the customer experience."

Key Responsibilities

In addition to traditional Barista duties, Shift Lead responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Customer Experience
    • Ensure consistent and quality customer experiences by executing brand food and beverage recipes and techniques, resolving customer relations issues, and leading the team in delivering the best service experience.
  • Service Management
    • Maintain speed of service standards during high-volume periods by staying calm, managing an efficient team workflow, anticipating customer needs, and utilizing downtime to prepare for the next rush.
  • Team Coordination
    • Ensure the shift runs smoothly, team members are assigned appropriate positions, and effective communication between positions is maintained.
  • Boozy Barista
    • Oversee responsibilities related to the Boozy Barista, including the preparation and service of alcoholic beverages, ensuring compliance with TABC regulations.
  • Cash Handling and Procedures
    • Understand and execute cash handling, point of sale system, and operational procedures in an accurate, consistent manner.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead team members to stay on task with store chores and other tasks; help them understand stations and how to work as part of the team during times when stations don't exist.
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure team members follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Keyholder Responsibilities
    • Serve as a keyholder, following all opening and closing procedures.
  • Punctuality and Dependability
    • Demonstrate punctuality, dependability, and adaptability.
  • Inventory Management
    • Receive and check in product deliveries.
  • Training and Feedback
    • Assist in the training of new hires; provide feedback and insight into job performance of the barista team.
  • Leadership Training
    • Participate in the Company Leadership Training Program, which includes active involvement and rotation in learning and performing the following supervisorial tasks:
      • Employee Scheduling
        • Maintain employee availability roster, plan and create weekly schedules according to the staffing plan, respond to absences or other schedule changes, and find or provide coverage.
      • Employee Training
        • Maintain/revise new hire training checklist, ensure new hires are trained in all tasks, can successfully perform their job functions, track training, and contribute to issuing 30-day performance reviews.
      • Purchasing and Inventory
        • Order products from designated vendors according to deadlines and based on par sheets, ensuring the store is not over or understocked.
      • Social Media/Marketing
        • Take pictures and video on the job to be used in our Social Media content; responsible for creating and testing monthly drink specials

 

Qualifications

  • Experience
    • Six months + of leadership experience, preferably in a coffee house, high-volume restaurant, or drive-thru environment.
  • Age Requirement
    • 18+ years old.
