Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled remote Sign Language Interpreter to join our educational team. In this important role, you will help provide equal access to education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students by delivering high-quality remote American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services. Your contributions will play a key role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students, ensuring they thrive in diverse and dynamic educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert ASL interpretation services for various virtual learning environments, including online classrooms, meetings, and school events.
Facilitate effective communication between teachers, staff, and students, ensuring all educational content is accessible.
Collaborate with educators to develop and implement strategies that promote inclusive education and support the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Stay attuned to the specific communication preferences and needs of each student to ensure the highest level of accessibility.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Sign Language Interpretation, Deaf Education, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, preferably in remote or virtual environments.
Active certification in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
Proficient in both ASL and English, with the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts across both languages.
Familiarity with online learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and remote interpretation tools.
Knowledge of educational accommodations and inclusive teaching practices to support diverse learning needs.

Additional Requirements:
Reliable, high-speed internet connection and the necessary technology to work remotely.
A quiet, distraction-free workspace to ensure an optimal environment for interpreting.
Availability to work during school hours (typically from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM CST).
Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain any required clearances for working with students.
Dedication to continuous professional development in both interpreting and education.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all professional interactions.
