FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Director and the Executive Director provides and overall management supervision to the staff and program for the Assisted Living department. QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum Qualifications: Must demonstrate competency in the following areas:
  • Caregiver in Assisted Living with a minimum of 4 years’ experience.
  • Management/Leadership skills of preferably 2+ years’ experience.
  • Scheduling experience of preferably 1+ years.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or successfully achieved within 30 days of employment if required by State Standards.
  • Preferred to have a valid, unrestricted certification in the state (CNA desired) and maintain CEU’s as required by the State.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily.
  1. Supervision and performance monitoring of team members in Assisted Living, and the application of department services to residents in the community.
  2. Prompt notification to ED, H&W Director, or Wellness Nurse of all emergencies and situations beyond the scope of your capabilities.
  3. Participation in resident orientation, and identification of potential changes or concerns within the care plan of each resident.
  4. Encourage positive relations and involvement with family members of Assisted Living residents, including attending and participating in all scheduled Family Care Conferences.
  5. Supervise the use of the 24 Hour Report Log by caregivers, including monitoring MD fax responses, completion of Incident Reports and Alert Charting information.
  6. Create and post monthly schedule for the Assisted Living assign resident care daily. Able to communicate care changes to H&W Director and caregiving staff.
  7. Monitor completion of monthly Vital Signs and Weights and communicate with the nursing department any concerns related to them.
  8. Attend all AL staff evaluations and counseling sessions.
  9. Demonstrates knowledge and complies with policy and procedure on filing out the DCEC/Unusual Occurrence Report and the Employee Incident Report.
  10. Is knowledgeable of and complies with state regulations as they apply to the retirement community and this job description.
  11. Participates in interviewing and selection of resident assistants. Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, termination, promotion, discipline/corrective action, as well as layoff and recall.
  12. Assist Scheduler as needed to schedule and reschedule staff using independent judgment and exercising discretion when creating the schedule and in making determinations regarding granting employee requests for time off or other modifications in work schedules.
  13. Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements.
  14. Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions, solve practical problems that may or may not include a variety of concrete variables. This may require the ability to interpret instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
  15. Demonstrates the ability to listen actively and evaluate social situations in an objective, consistent and fair manner. Functions independently with integrity, flexibility
and works well with residents, personnel and support agencies. 16.Complies with community policies and procedures for workplace safety including infection control procedures, emergency response and safety protocol. 17.Complies with all company policies and procedures related to resident rights; abuse prevention and reporting; and resident confidentiality (HIPPA). 18.Demonstrates knowledge of Employee Handbook and complies with the policies in the Handbook. 19.Performs other related duties as may be assigned If you are the right candidate, then we definitely want to hear from you!
